Maple Finance and Lido Partner to Unlock stETH-Backed Credit Lines
In a move that bridges DeFi innovation with institutional finance, crypto lender Maple Finance has announced a partnership with Lido Finance, the largest Ethereum liquid staking provider. The collaboration enables Maple to offer stablecoin credit lines backed by Lido’s stETH, allowing borrowers to tap into liquidity without sacrificing their staking rewards.
Lido’s stETH—representing over $24 billion in staked ETH—has become a critical yield-generating asset in decentralized finance. This partnership aims to extend its utility by letting institutions use it as collateral for underwritten loans, primarily in stablecoins like USDC.
Unlike typical DeFi lending protocols, Maple's loans are KYC-compliant and underwritten by its credit team, providing a level of due diligence that institutional players expect. The credit lines are designed for use cases such as treasury management, conservative leverage, and short-term capital needs.
This initiative strengthens both platforms: Maple diversifies its collateral base (following recent BTC-backed offerings), while Lido enhances stETH’s reputation as institutional-grade collateral. It also fits into the broader trend of “restaking” and composability in Ethereum’s evolving financial stack.
By fusing on-chain liquidity with off-chain credit infrastructure, the partnership marks a significant step toward institutional adoption of DeFi-native assets.
