HIVE Digital Surpasses 10 EH/s in May Driven by Hydropowered Growth, Targets Over 25 EH/s by Year-End
HIVE Digital Technologies has achieved a significant milestone in its Bitcoin mining operations, surpassing 10 exahash per second (EH/s) in May 2025, marking a 58% increase from 6.6 EH/s in April. This rapid growth was driven by the activation of a 100-megawatt hydro-powered facility in Paraguay, aligning with the company's commitment to sustainable energy sources.
In May, HIVE mined 139 bitcoins, averaging 4.5 BTC per day, with a peak hashrate of 10.4 EH/s and an average of 8.5 EH/s. The fleet maintained an energy efficiency of approximately 20 joules per terahash (J/TH), and the company's share of the global Bitcoin network hashrate exceeded 1%.
Looking ahead, HIVE aims to reach a hashrate of 25 EH/s by the end of 2025, which could enable the production of over 12 BTC daily at a cost below $50,000 per Bitcoin. This expansion is part of a broader strategy that includes the development of additional hydro-powered facilities in Paraguay. The company has demonstrated operational efficiency by deploying new ASIC miners within six hours of arrival, underscoring its capacity for rapid scaling.
HIVE's strategic focus on renewable energy and rapid infrastructure deployment positions it as a leader in the evolving landscape of sustainable cryptocurrency mining.
